Sorokin Sergey

Born in 1950 in Archangelsk. Lived in Krasnoyarsk region, work as painter-decorator, served in the army.
1974 - Participated for the first time in a youth exhibition, organized by the Gorky branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR in honor of the grand opening of an exhibition hall of the Union of Artists.
1974-1983 - Participation as an organizer and exhibitor in “Fridays” apartment exhibitions.
1986 – First exhibition of a non-formal art union “Black pond” (“Record” movie theatre, Gorky). Most of the paintings were purchased for Moscow private collections.
1986, 1987 – Personal exhibitions at the “Record” movie theatre, Gorky.
1988 – Exhibition “Modern Russian art” (New York, USA).
1990 – Exhibition of works of art from private collections in Manege, Moscow.
1992 – Personal exhibitions in the program of musical art evenings of Mr. E. Bushon (Hamburg, Germany); exhibition “Back entrance” in “Caryatid” gallery (Nizhniy Novgorod); exhibitions: “Modern Russian art” (Central House of Artists, Moscow), “The other generation” ( The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum, Nizhniy Novgorod).
1993 – Participation in the exhibition “The other generation - II” (The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum, Nizhniy Novgorod and the Central House of Artists, Moscow).
1994 – Personal exhibition in the Museum of contemporary art (Jersey City, USA).
1995 – Personal exhibition “Album” (“Caryatid” gallery, Nizhniy Novgorod); participation in the exhibition of A. Glaser’s collection in the Museum of private (The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow).
1996 – Personal exhibition in E. Bushon’s gallery (Hamburg, Germany); exhibition of L. Janstrup (Denmark) in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow; exhibition “Painters of Russia to the Nizhniy Novgorod Fair” (Nizhniy Novgorod); personal exhibition in the Public-cultural center (Nizhniy Novgorod).
1997 – Personal exhibition “The house that Sergey Sorokin built” (“A-A-A” agency, Nizhniy Novgorod); exhibition “Young Russia” in the State Literature Museum (Moscow), and the Tabakman Museum (New York, USA).
1999 – I-st biennale “Modern Russian graphics and sculpture” (Jersey city, USA).
1999-2000 – Participation in an exhibition project “Nizhniy Novgorod. People, streets, courtyards” (Most bank, Nizhniy Novgorod branch, The Nizhniy Novgorod Fair).
2000 – Exhibition “20 years after” (New Jersey, USA), participation in the exhibition (The magnificent seven”, Grand Gallery, New York, Soho, USA).
2001 – Exhibition “High voltage”, (The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum, Nizhniy Novgorod); II-d biennale “Modern Russian graphics” (Museum of contemporary Russian art, Jersey City, USA).
2002 – participation in exhibitions: (Kharkov, Moscow); exhibitions “From Russia to America” in memory of September 11 (New York); “Russian portrait of the XVIII-XX centuries”, from the funds of The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum and private collections (Nizhniy Novgorod).
2003 – exhibition “Russian still life painting and interiors of the XIX-XX centuries. Between nature and history”, (The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum, Nizhniy Novgorod).
2003-2004 – Two personal exhibitions (Sarov, Russia).
2004 – “Russian landscape of the XVIII-XX centuries. Between nature and history”, (The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum, Nizhniy Novgorod).
2005 - Personal exhibitions (Hamburg, Germany; “20 years later”, (“Record” movie theatre, Nizhniy Novgorod).
Paintings are in The Nizhniy Novgorod State Art Museum, Nizhniy Novgorod, Cheboksar art museum, Boldino museum reserve, in private collections in Russia and abroad. Lives and works in Nizhniy Novgorod.
